Ginger Pygmy

The Ginger Pygmy is a pygmy form that can be generated in the Chamber of Time. Gingers were introduced in Ep 43: Killing Time.

Physical Appearance[]

The Ginger Pygmy has red hair, blue eyes, rabbit like teeth, pale skin and no smile, but most of the rest of the aspects of the character design remains the same.

Interactions[]

Ginger Burns

Fatal Sunburn

Ginger Pygmies act much like normal Pygmies, except they don't have many interactions with the Pocket God World.

  • Ginger Pygmies don't sleep.
  • They walk around and speak a few lines of idle dialogue:
"Ooh, my dainty skin!"
"Hey guys, got any sunscreen?"
"Hey, I have a soul!"
  • If taken out into any daylight, the Ginger Pygmy will cry "It burns! It burns!", then turn bright red and burn up. To keep the Ginger Pygmy around for more than 3 seconds you MUST keep the sky on twilight, cloud settings or night.

Keeping the storm clouds while there is sun is also a way to keep the Ginger pygmy from burning.

Vampire and Ginger

Vampires hate gingers.

  • If a Vampire Pygmy is present, the Vampire will sense that the Ginger Pygmy has no soul and burn up.

Origins[]

In early builds of the Pocket God game, Dave Castelnuovo and Allan Dye received comments from Pacific Islanders that they didn't like the stereotype of dark-skinned, black-haired pygmies. In response, Dave and Allan considered changing the Pygmies to a light-skinned, ginger-haired form, just to point out the illogical idea of such people on a tropical island, but decided against it. Adding Pygmies from alternate universes allowed them to properly introduce the Ginger in Ep 43: Killing Time.

Trivia[]

  • The dialogue "Hey, I have a soul!" and the fact that a vampire senses no soul and burns up is an idea originating in the viking era, referencing a stereotype of pagan people destroying defenseless holy areas, hence why they were considered to have no soul.
  • The ginger pygmy seems snooty because it commands for you to get it sunscreen, and it will commonly complain about beauty issues.
  • The line "It burns! It burns!" is a reference to the 1973 film The Exorcist.
